from Peace and Quiet.
Program note
Peace and Quiet is a soundscape of Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
Kangaroo Island (south of Adelaide) is a quiet and peaceful place (usually).
The sounds in this piece were all recorded there at the end of August
2002, mostly in Flinders Chase National park. The sounds have not been
processed, except for their positioning in the surround sound space.
The piece is available in four forms:
- as six WAV-format files on a CD-ROM, corresponding to the six channels
of a 5.1 surround sound system;
- as a DVD-Audio disc;
- as a sound-only DVD with either DTS surround or Dolby surround sound
(with blank video);
- as a stereo mixdown on audio CD.
